Kaledeway's
Kenora, Ontario, Canada is the birthplace of Laurens Kaldeway, who is known as an amateur photographer due to his lack of college training in the field. Laurens claims that his children were the main source of his inspiration. His kids play a major role in both his personal and professional lives and are his ongoing source of inspiration to keep taking pictures. He frequently uses his children as the main topic of his photographs.
Kaledeway's Style
Kaldeway focuses heavily on one subject in his photography. Whether it's a person or an object, he like to choose a location in the image from which to see his subject. He then uses angles, lighting, and surroundings to portray the atmosphere of the picture. Kaldeway draws inspiration for his photographs from his own experiences as well. While some of his works are quite black and white and melancholy, many of his images are whimsical and convey a sort of cheerful sensation.
Philosophy
Photographer Laurens Kaldeway claims he is self-taught and doesn't think much of himself. "Living the best possible life right where I am," he writes on his blog. This suggests to me that he draws inspiration from the commonplace items and people in his environment. He talks about how his first child's birth sparked his love in photography. A large number of Laurens' photos include kids. Kaldeway's use of color and lighting allows him to bring out the beauty in commonplace things or moments. He finds inspiration in the life he is surrounded by.
Influences
The manner that Kaldeway focuses on the people and common objects around him has inspired my work. I enjoy shooting photos of my surroundings as well. I've included pictures of my yard, the trees, and my garden. Like Kaldeway, I think inspiration may be found in the small things in our surroundings. I take pictures of life because it's what I know the most about. That seems to be conveyed by Kaldeway's photos as well.
This one was just as challenging as the one with the colored pencils because I didn't have any dark-themed locales at home. To replicate the dark surface, I utilized a black-colored plastic container. Therefore, it was challenging to achieve the ideal dark theme and rainbow bubbles. Additionally, it was challenging to place the bubbles. Again, being near up made it difficult to get the right clarity, but I tried my best to get the same picture.
This was the easiest photo to capture because the background was somewhat comparable because I had a dark-colored dining table with a texture that was fairly similar, a white wall next to it, and clear salt and pepper bottles, though they weren't exactly the same shape. Getting the angle just right was difficult with this one, but I did my best to replicate the image.
Taking this photo was challenging because it was up close and I didn't have a green background. making it difficult to focus. In addition, the picture was extremely close, and had a bubble effect. which I was notable to replicate but still managed to get it as close as possible.
Artist Statement
The hardest one to replicate was the soap bubbles, mostly because I had to utilize a container instead of black surfaces or places, and because it was a close-up, it was really challenging to obtain good quality with my amateur camera. and to correctly accomplish the dark theme and the rainbow bubbles. I made use of my kitchen's brilliant natural light for my second photograph. Additionally, you had to capture the scene from a side aspect, so I had to make sure that my viewpoint in the photo was the same, that I was facing straight sideways, and that I was covering the front. I had to focus entirely on the tips of the vibrant colored pencils. I therefore required strong lighting and close proximity to my subject. Because there was no outside frame and the entire image consisted of water and coloured pencils, this allowed me to replicate the image. I'm pleased with how my recreations came out. I believe I managed to convey the essence of each shot.
